Public Efforts to Lower Home Insurance Costs could have a Significant Influence

Sometimes if you look for good signs, you’ll find them. Such is the case in Shelby Township, Michigan, where the local government has decided to hire a consulting firm to review the city’s fire department procedures in an effort to bring down the cost of home insurance for residents. The hopeful result: that soon, residents who compare home insurance costs will see a marked decrease in their premiums.

Shelby Township has hired ISO Slayer, a consulting firm that specializes in rating the readiness and effectiveness of municipal fire departments. ISO performs these consultations nationwide, assigning ratings that are then used by insurers to set home insurance premiums by certain districts. If a town’s rating is excellent, finding insurance coverage that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg therefore becomes a lot easier for local residents.

This bit of news is a welcome ray of hope for those who frequently encounter higher prices when comparing home insurance costs, and is a reminder that outside influencers are busy doing what they can to help lower the cost of home insurance for all.
