In the first eight months of this year, unexpectedly harsh weather caused billions of dollars in property damage, which in turn has prompted smart drivers in search of the best coverage to request new quotes for auto insurance. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the United States has been hit by 9 devastating weather events so far this year including wildfires, hurricanes and tornadoes. The total cost to the economy is estimated to be as high as $40 billion. Though the costs for individual drivers are of course much lower, those with comprehensive coverage still have deductibles to pay before their insurance kicks in, while those without comprehensive coverage face the costs of repairing or replacing their vehicles themselves and paying for an alternative method of transportation to get to and from work while their cars are in the shop.
Drivers Compare Auto Insurance for Best Comprehensive Coverage
With property damages running in the billions of dollars, it’s not surprising that insurance companies have received an unusually high number of requests for quotes for auto insurance. Consumers are becoming increasingly more aware of how adequate insurance can protect them, and what the financial consequences can be if they aren’t sufficiently insured. Consumers are also using online comparison sites to compare auto insurance policies from more than one insurance company, rather than just staying with the same insurer year after year. Even though most drivers won’t be switching insurance companies until their policy term is up after 12 months, they’re already shopping around for lower rates, better coverage, affordable deductibles and great service.
