2011’s Cheapest Vehicles to Insure

When it comes to popular car insurance questions, there’s none that gets asked with as much frequency as this: what do I need to do to get really affordable car insurance? The reality of rough and rocky economic times has led many to abandon lifestyles of living beyond their means. People are tightening their belts. The rising cost of gas and the plummeting value of homes has made people start to nervously eye the bill that accompanies their car insurance policy statement. And car lovers are beginning to mull over their trade down options.

It’s no secret there are some cars that are more expensive to insure. The once held misconception that you only had to worry if you owned a $95,000 sports car has been eradicated. Taking their cues from yearly reports that inform consumers what they need to drive in order to secure the lowest car insurance rates possible, more and more people are starting to pawn off their sporty coupes for the slightly less thrilling experience that only a minivan can provide.

According to a recently released report gathered directly from all the major car insurance companies, the cheapest vehicle to insure in 2011 is the Chrysler Town & Country LX minivan at $1091.80, followed closely by the Toyota Sienna and Sienna LE at $1100.00 and $1107.70, respectively. But SUV lovers and those with an aversion to minivans don’t have to despair. Jeep’s Wrangler placed comfortably in the list of top 10 cheapest vehicles to insure, at an average $1131.27 per year.
